Post Cacti graphs inaccurate with high values
Hello.
The company I'm currently working on is at this moment using PRTG to monitor the network with graphs.
However, after setting up Cacti we noticed that PRTG and Cacti is showing different values from the same devices.
I've tried to zoom in to the cactigraph to make it compareable to the one from PRTG.
(If you can explain the graphgaps, that would be awesome too;).)
Any idea how this can be so different?
It has to be said that the cactibox is running cactiez 0.4 on a desktop pc and prtg on a w2k3 server.
Hoping for replies

Edit:
It looks like Cacti has problems keeping the graphs accurate when the gigalink is having a load over 500Mbit/s.
It peaks above 800Mbit/s now (with SNMP v2) but then goes down to around 400Mbit/s.
Any idea what can cause this?

Yep. had the exact same issue. The problem is counter rollover I belive... And is solved by using 64bit counters on the graphs. You can go into the 'Data Sources' management and just change the 'In/Out Bits' to 'In/Out Bits (64-bit Counters)' and all should work correctly.

Yes, you must use 64 bits counters for your Gigabit links.

Hello Jimmy!

First of all thank you for your great job.
I have a graph problem when the traffic is higher than 600 Mbit/s I got an unaccurate value (under 600Mit/s the 32bit counter works well). I tried to use a 64bit counter for mentioned interfaces, but the graph still empty. All in all the realtime graph shows all time the current and accurate in/out BW values.

I'm using the default settings.

Please help me what should I do wrong, or which parameter should be modified.

Many THANX!!!

I was having the same issue and I solved it by modifying the data queries for network interface and added rrd_maximum to the Suggested fields. On the latest version of cacti, it should work out of the box. Here is what I have for data queries

Field Name: rrd_maximum
Name: |query_ifSpeed|

Thank you for your answer! :P
I found this data query part, and as I see, it has already filled out with your suggested value.
Can you please check my configuration?
Which cacti version are U using?
Do you have any idea what should I have to modified or add sg?

Many many THX!!
