Post Create a plug-in tab for my custom links
I wish we had a simple tab called: "Tools"
I would like it to load a simple HTML in the main body frame called tools.html
We could add customize tools.html with our custom links.
I have web based ping, traceroute and nslookup as well as a custom network weather map using the RRD file from Cacti.
It would be nice to see my third party and custom tools inside Cacti with it's own tab just like monitor and threshold.
I know this is not much of a plug-in, but it would certainly get used.

It would be very simple to have a "Tools" link under the "Utilities" heading on the Console. It would load up a seperate page on the right with whatever you want. If you really want, send me the scripts you are using, and I will create the complete plugin for you (nslookup, ect...). It should be fairly simple to implement. We could even throw in a SNMP Tester (walk, grab values, ect...)

Post Tools tab
I am not set on a particular tool set.
I was thinking of a tools.html page that could easily be customized.
Here is a site that has some typical PHP tools:
http://www.theworldsend.net

I picture me editing my tools.html to have a link to my "Network Weathermap" like:
http://myserver/weathermap

and maybe a link to phpmyadmin like:
http://myserver/phpmyadmin

Really just create that tab and let each admin add custom links.
I guess just a "Links" tab instead of tools?

But now that you mention it, bundeling some PHP web based tools into the plugin would be really sweet.
Hmm, one easy to add plug-in just like your others and get a quick functional PING, Traceroute, NSLookup, Whois, Dig.... I like the sound of that!

Maybe this should be a request for 2 plug-ins?
1.) A plain and simple "Links" tab for things like weathermap and other site specific things that easily customized
and
2.) A "One Stop" plug-in for a standard toolkit with a "Tools" tab and a bundle of basic tools: PING, Traceroute, NSLookup, Whois, Dig etc.

I would certainly install both! I bet other people would as well.
These are 2 things that could benefit from your plug-in architecture!

I Set up a mambo server that acts as my NMS systems'
"switchboard" .. it has links to:
a page of utils
phpadmin
extreme switch tools
cisco works tools
cacti
some rss news feeds
a little BBS system on board
a doc management system built in..

It all runs under the same instance of apache as cacti ..

Just a gentle note that theres better infrastructure out there
to handle a page of links than cacti, and it could get the plugin
architecture into the content management business.
