thold 0.3.8 cacti 0.8.7. no email send
Hi Jimmy,
just updated the cacti installation from 086j to 087, with pia 1.3, plugin "settings" and thold 038: The email function does not work with sendmail or php-mailer. I Set the threshold of one DS to 1 bit/s. Thold is checking it, displays the DS red and no email is sent.
Testing the "send test email" function works fine.

I have to say I'm having the same problem. I suspected something 'wasn't right' and I just realized today that e-mail isn't going. If I send a test email from Settings, it works. Also syslog events are being written. But, no email. Worked with my Cacti .8.6/Thold 3.7 setup last week. Upgraded to .3.8 at the same time I upgraded Cacti to .8.7, FWIW.
Side note, I seem to be having a problem with some graphs "alarming" on high baselined threshold. Problem is, none are set. I dont get a syslog message or email (hehe), but when I click on the Thold tab I have many in 'alarm'. I didnt have this setup before .3.8 so I cant say if its a new issue.
Thanks!

I added an email address to my user account, chose it in the thold settings for the certain data source, and it now sends threshold alerts! I suggest you guys try this as well.

thats a solution if you have 1 thold and not 800! And next we use an email alias to inform a couple of users. Which user should I use to put in the email-address?

Yeah, it was tedious but I fixed it for nearly 100 tholds. Put whatever email address you want in there...you can even list multiple addresses if needed; user1@whatever.com,user2@whatever.com - aliases are better though, good call on that! Something like "tholdalerts@company.com" and then have the email server expand that to a list of users.

You can maybe get more mileage if you update the DB directly with many thresholds set up.
cacti.plugin_thold_contacts - id of user, type of notification, address
cacti.plugin_thold_threshold_contact - id of threshold, id of contact from plugin_thold_contacts
cacti.thold_data - id of thresholds and other misc data

ok I can change this per sql but this is not the way to use thold. Thold should read it from the setting page! is there a bugfix/patch in work?
