Heya All,

This is CactiEZ 4.x (latest version avail for download...I just updated to it in the last month).

The browser I am using is Firefox, also the latest version.

I seem to have got netflow working on the router, as I see it making ft-v05* files in /var/netflow/flows/completed/2008-06-11 (using the day of this posting as an example). Note there are also dirs using the format 2008-06-11-1 etc (I guess the extra is the hour in the day?) but they have nothing in them (1).

I have created a device called "Router" (this is the only device currently sending netfow to the server) with the following settings:

Directory: / (I have used '/' and blank to no avail)

Allowed Host: 0 (I have used the IP of the router as configured for source also)

Port: 2055

Nesting: /YYYY-MM-DD

Version: 5 (matches the router)

Compression: 0

Rotation: 1 minute

Expiration: 1 month

I have verified the router and Cacti server have the same date and time set (they are within 5 seconds of each other).

SO...I have setup the router and it is successfully sending info to the server. The server is successfully putting the info into ft-v05 files in the relative root structure in the dirs with the specified format of YYYY-MM-DD so that seems OK.

I can't get the viewer to show me any results. I use the following query:

Device: router

Start Date: 06-11-2008

Start Time: - 8 HOURS

End Time: NOW

Everything else I leave as default..and I get no results. What am I doing wrong?

Also I cannot save queries. I have checked for the existence of the plugin_netflow_queries table and it is there. I did at one point drop ALL the plugin_netflow_* tables and re-imported the SQL. The table shows up in webmin with what appears to be all the pertinent fields, but no data. No error is returned when I hit 'save', nor can I find anything in the cacti log.

BAD ERROR MSG:...I typo'd the end date once, using 06/11/2808 and got the error "Invalid dates, End Date/Time is earlier than Start Date/Time!". Weird that it thinks 2008 comes AFTER 2808.......

Please feel free to ask me anything you want about my config.

Regards and TIA!,

Chum

(1) - There is also no matching format in the devices tab to choose that matches the YYYY-MM-DD-HH format. I guess thats just some default in flow-capture?

YYYY-MM-DD-HH was never a real format supported by flow-tools, I hacked it in myself using a perl script and a cron job. I removed it as it caused too much overhead, and just let flow-tools do all the handling now.

As for your issue, first ensure your clock on your router matches the clock on the cacti server. Flow-tools requires it, or for it to fairly close, otherwise it won't see the data at all.

I'll look into the time validation, but I assume its a PHP error, since the strtotime function doesn't handle dates that far in advance.
