Post Syslog in CactiEZ 0.8.7c
Hey,

I've just installed the latest image of the cactiEz (0.8.7c).

I'm checking the syslog module, but get stuck. :$
I see that the syslog is working for the 'local' machine. So all loggins of the server itself is working fine. But external devices aren't log. Do i need to install something else? Or what am i missing?

On a cisco switch:
Code:
snmp-server host 192.168.201.33 trap pwd111

Result of the debug of the cisco switch:
Code:
May  8 10:50:29: SNMP: Queuing packet to 192.168.201.33
May  8 10:50:29:
Outgoing SNMP packet
May  8 10:50:29: v1 packet
May  8 10:50:29: community string: pwd111
May  8 10:50:29: SNMP: V1 Trap, ent ciscoConfigManMIB.2, addr 192.168.201.15, gentrap 6, spectrap 1
ccmHistoryEventEntry.3.69 = 1
ccmHistoryEventEntry.4.69 = 3
ccmHistoryEventEntry.5.69 = 4
May  8 10:50:29: SNMP: Packet sent via UDP to 192.168.201.33

Yes, you have to tell each of your remote servers to send to the syslog server. There are plenty of docs on Google on it.

What do you mean with remote servers?

I've got some cisco switches/routers that needs to send their snmp traps towards the Cacti server (who's acting as a syslog server?)...
Like you see in the code above, the switch behave normal...

Or what am i missing?

Um.. traps are not syslog messages. The Syslog plugin accepts only syslog messages. If you want to receive traps, you need the CAMM plugin (which can do Syslogs also now).

Are you sure about this? :$

We've got a CactiEZ running, and in the syslog module, all our switches and routers are sending their info to the system (interfaces up/down, alerts...).
The problem is that i don't know anymore how we manage to activate this before... :$

I've added these rule into a switch:

Code:
logging trap critical
logging facility local4
logging 192.168.201.33

But when i bring a port down and backup up, no logs are arriving in the syslog tab of Cacti. Must i change anything else (fe allowed hosts to send logs or so)?

Thanks!!!

Strange thing, the routers are sending their info apperantly.
The switches don't.

Any idea? :$

Is it possible that the reason is a different vlan?
The routers are on a different vlan then the server.
The switches are located in the same range as the server...
