Post cactid cron job?
Hi,

I have two small questions...regarding CactiEZ

1. where is the cactid cron job defined?? I didnt found it in /etc/cron.d.....
2. what have i to do to get WMI queries from windows hosts.....have you got a small "HowTO" anywhere?

Thanks in advance
Alex

1. There is no Cactid cron job, there is a poller.php cronjob, which then calls cactid (this is the way Cacti works with the separate poller)

That cron job is being ran as apache, so you can access it with this command
crontab -e -u apache

2. I don't actually have a How-To for it. The newest beta adds Nagios. Nagios has a client you can install on the remote host, and then you can use a script from within Cacti (there are already lots of them) to call the Nagios binary to grab the data.

There is a huge topic on the cacti.net forums dedicated to this, I just don't have the link offhand.

Hi Jimmy,

thanks for the fast reply....

how can I make the poller running with root rights - I want to use advanced ping but I get only 100% packet loss when I use TCP or UDP pings.....

Best regards
Alex

Take the entry out of the apache fron tab, and add it to the root tab.

crontab -e -u apache
copy and remove the line for poller.php

crontab -e
(you are now editing root's crontab)
paste the entry

The editor it uses is VI so I would suggest you Google it and learn the commands to edit, save, and exit.
