Yes, your smtp server is not allowing you to relay a message stating its from hotmail.com. Its your server and I know nothing about it, so I can't really help you configure it.

Hello,

I have the same problem my friend...

Once I installed Cacti version "h" and dependencies automatically when I use Ubuntu 6.10 over a Station PC.

Now I am installing Cacti version "i" and their dependencies separatelly and carefully over a Ubuntu Edgy SERVER PC.

Of course it is not the same kind of configuration.

With Cacti version "h" I could send Thold emails by setting MAIL ADD, SMTP HOST, PORT, AUTH (User and PASS); now I can do it using the same Mail parameters. BUT now with version "i" I am not enable to send mails :(

I was looking for a cause: I find that my Server wasnt using SMTP protocol so I installed PostFix (apt-get install postfix) and now when I call command "a@host#telnet localhost 25" , the response is "I have SMTP in my server"

Now I try againg to send test Thold mails and it is not working yet.

I wonder if there is something else missing..... in cacti?? in Postfix ?? where??

WEll I will continue looking for solution....

It works...

In Option: Configuration / Settings / Alerting/Thold

"Mail Services"

I chosse "PHP MAil () Function" (Not SMTP or SENDMAIL)

And with all the values posted it works...
